Allow Me To Re-Introduce Myself

Hello Canada and hockey fans, from the United States and Newfoundland. Okay, I'm sure none of you are from The United States or Newfoundland but I digress, welcome to PST Free Hockey. I thought there would not be a more appropriate time for me to introduce myself and the site than tonight, when the Edmonton Oilers and Calgary Flames face-off for the first time this season.

This new and still partially under construction site is dedicated to bringing you the latest on the Oilers and Flames with a satirical edge. Too many sites and blogs in this "industry" take themselves too seriously. PST Free Hockey is about being a fan of your team, and being able to take a step back and have a laugh at their expense too.

There has been some confusion over the name already. Myself (Dan Moser), and Richard Shilling chose the name because PST stands for Provincial Sales Tax. Alberta is the only province in Canada that does not charge a Provincial Sales Tax on top of the National General Sales Tax. Therefore, PST Free Hockey is Alberta hockey, in other words the Oilers and Flames.

In one of the comments below someone suggested it stood for Pacific Standard Time. That's not bad and I like it. Richard and I both hate the Canucks, therefore Pacific Standard Time Free Hockey makes sense too.

Anyway the game tonight should be an interesting one, but only because both teams have so many question marks and unknowns. Will Olli Jokinen play like Olli Jokinen? Is Taylor Hall the next Steven Stamkos, or he is more Daigle? Is Iginla's age showing? Can Jordan Eberle score goals with more than 5 seconds left on the clock?

In all likelihood, none of these questions will be answered tonight. Hopefully we see some hits, some goals and some fights and the entertainment value of the battle of Alberta returns.

Cheers and enjoy the game,

Dan Moser

P.S. I have another site devoted to only Oilers junk http://www.oilerspill.blogspot.com
